Sign your documents and electronic transactions with a touch of your finger
The dematerialization of electronic exchanges have experienced significant developments over the past few years, since electronic signatures have become a legal obligation in a majority of European countries. Moreover, its usage is set to intensify with the introduction of new electronic cards such as electronic identity cards, already in use in Belgium and under study in France, or the new social security card SESAN-VITALE 2 (France) and others which are used daily. However electronic signature applications are already numerous, TVA tele-declaration, income tax, social security contributions, tenders....etc; Aside from dealings between companies and Civil services, the electronic signature also has its place within the company, in particular with application work such as ERP.
Condition "sine qua non" to a recognized legal value, the private keys of the electronic signature, what lawyers call 'signature creation elements', must remain under the exclusive control of the user. Such a constraint can only be attained by protecting these keys, generally with a confidential password. Besides reconciling security and ergonomics by removing the use of a password, the fingerprint makes the use of electronic signatures tangible by creating an act as simple as a handwritten signature. Just as artists of Ancient Egypt signed their works of art with a print, the user in this era of virtual transactions can indicate his intention or his consent by replicating this simple gesture.
Protect the use of public key certificates
An essentiel base of the electronic signature, public key cryptology also provides security services such as strong authentication, ('I can prove that I am who I am') information integrity or ciphering (data confidentuality), all based on the usage of a private key and an electronic certificate, the public counterbalance of the private key.
No matter what type of security service you need to set up, you will always be confronted by the usage and protection of a private key, generally using a confidential code, or even better, a code sentence. Imagine the time saved and the simplicity of use if you could substitute this confidential information, what you know (and often forget) with information which is yours alone, and that can never be forgotten or lost?
This is precisely what the fingerprint does in PC Login Pro Suite 5. Choosing to protect your certificates with a fingerprint, the signing of an E-mail, the exchange of confidential mail or the access to a secured site becomes childs' play and leads to an increase in personal productivity with an unequalled level of reliability.
Functioning principles of XELIOS X-BioCert
X-BioCertâ„¢ is compatible with the entire range of public key infrastructures (PKI) and the Authority of Certification (AC) issuing electronic certificates conform to the X509 standard. Once PC Login Pro Suite 5 is installed onto your workstation, X-BioCertâ„¢ detects the certificates associated with the private key and proposes to assure the protection by use of a fingerprint.
In this manner, as soon as an application (client mail, Internet navigator, work application etc;) requires a private key (signature, encryption, strong authentication etc;) X-BioCertâ„¢ intercepts the transaction with your cryptographic tool box (Crypto Service Provider or CSP) and requests the use of your fingerprint to activate the key.
Advanced functions
X-BioCertâ„¢ uses a technology particularly innovative which allows for the co-habitation and inter-functioning with most CSP which offer an API conform to the MS-CAPI or PKCS#11 and in this way assuring perfect compatibility with the majority of software available on the market and cards or crypto-processor tokens such as:
Microsoft Internet Explorerâ„¢
Microsoft Outlookâ„¢
Outlook Expressâ„¢
Lotus Notesâ„¢ (from the version 6)
Mozilla
FireFox
Adobe Acrobat Professionalâ„¢ (from the version 7)
